Here at Southland, one of things we deem as most important is to radically invest in the next generation. I’m proof of that! The reason I follow Jesus today is because of the student ministry staff and leaders that were present when I was in high school. I love being a part of that same ministry today by leading students at our Georgetown campus.
We have seen God work in some incredible ways with our Georgetown students. From Winter Retreat to our initial life groups, we’ve seen students learn about their identity in Christ and make strong connections to each other. Most recently we had 24 students from our campus dedicate their lives to doing Kingdom Work at our summer CIY MIX and Move conferences.
God is using our students to love the Georgetown community. This is why I am so excited to announce our plans for the fall! On Sunday, August 21, for the first time at our campus, we launch a student ministry weekly service! We will meet from 1:30-3:30 in the Lemon’s Mill Elementary Gymnasium. During this time we will play games, learn together, worship God, connect in life groups, and, my personal favorite… eat food! Our plan is to offer lunch at 1:00pm each Sunday so that we can gather around a table and strengthen our student community!
I could not be more excited to kick off our fall semester! I hope you feel the same. If you are a student in middle or high school then you need to be there on Sunday, August 21! If you are a parent of a student or even if you just happen to know one, make sure they are there. And if you want to join in on the fun a help make a difference in the lives of teenagers please contact me about joining our team.
I hope to see you soon!
As you can see in this video, God is moving powerfully in the lives of Southland Students! And we are looking for adults who can come alongside these students and disciple them in their spiritual journey. If you’d like more information about what it means to volunteer in student ministry, or if you’re ready to apply to become a volunteer, contact Stephanie Boxx, our Volunteer Coordinator. Let her know what campus you’re from, and she’ll connect you with the right staff person!
