Unleash - Tuesday
Read Acts 16:16-40.
As a church, our mission begins with being “Courageous followers of Jesus...” Our faith, if it’s true faith, demands we be courageous. This is true for us as individuals as well. Every day, we have an opportunity to exercise courageous faith. If we cannot be courageous followers, we are more likely to be discouraged followers - secret, safe and vanilla in our life in Christ. That is not the life in Christ we are called to live. We are called to live courageously. To live lives “set apart” from the world. This life in Jesus is not for the faint of heart. It’s for the faith-filled and convinced of heart.
Courage is not a lack of fear. Courage is using God’s power to act, in the midst of fear. Living as authentic Christ-followers in this world is a fearful thing. It takes courage which the Holy Spirit will empower us with as we surrender completely our lives to Jesus. So take heart. Be courageous and follow Jesus with all of your life, even in the most fearful situations.
- When was the last time you were courageous in your faith?
- How did God give you the power to act, even in the midst of your fear?
- How can you exercise that same courage every single day?
